Functional Area 30 Qualification Course (RC)

The FA30 Qualification Course (Reserve Component) offered by the 3-124th Information Operations (IO) School, is a one year, 3 phase course covering Information Engagement Operations. Phase I is approximately 48 hrs of web based distance learning that you do on your own. Phase II is 6 months worth of IDT in a virtual classroom (from your home site). Phase III is a 15 day resident exercise held at Ft. Leavenworth, KS in conjunction with the active duty’s FA30 course. The course is for Majors through Colonels who are assigned or will be assigned in an FA 30 role. The course develops FA30 officers to successfully serve their commands on staffs at brigade through corps level.

Prerequisites: There are no prerequisites although there are provisions to waive a portion of Phase One. Those who have completed an Army or Joint IO course sanctioned by USAIOP or who have functioned in an IO position for a minimum of 1 year during the 36 months preceding their enrollment date may submit a request to waive Phase 1 to the Chief, 3-124th IO TASS Battalion Training Division. The request must be in the form of a memorandum endorsed by the chain of command and with supporting documentation attached. The Training Division Chief will make the final determination regarding all such requests and either grant the waiver, deny the waiver, require more documentation, or grant a conditional waiver subject to passing the Phase 1 exam. Students granted a waiver will still be responsible for satisfying all other requirements for starting Phase 2.
