NG Women's DISPLAY
The Women's Display premiered during the "Wings Over Vermont" Air Show. Although not ideal weather or site location we did prevail in our enthusiasm. Over 40 personnel were involved in coordinating the event. All of the volunteers were committed to the project even using their personal time to achieve commitments. I feel privileged to work with such great people.

Our goal was to raise awareness of what Women Do in the Military. We wanted to expel myths and generally share our experience with the public in a non pressure atmosphere when compared to a recruiting venue. It is our hope that educating the public and showcasing the opportunities for women in the NG will increase female enlistments for the National Guard. Although we agreed from the beginning we are not recruiters we needed recruiters to help us. The first order of business was finding a community venue to tag on to. The Air Show was scheduled a week before Women's Equality Day and was a perfect place to begin. The original
idea was a tent with pictures of women in the military as an honorary display. During the first meeting it was clear we had big goals, lots of ideas and we would need more space then a small tent. We didn't want to look like a recruiting booth however that was hard when we opted to utilize the mobile recruiting unit (MRU) from the ARNG. Considering our collective exhibits we needed the space, electricity and storage. We thank MAJ Palermo, Lt. Leffler and the ARNG Recruiting staff for their resources and contributions to the project. Please view the PowerPoint Picture Show highlighting the NG Women's Display Project. It is our hope more women will see the National Guard as a great career to learn new skills, travel, meet great people, build self esteem, become a leader, enhance their civilian career and continue building their professional development goals. We will continue showcasing the "NG Women's Display" as part of the VTNG Affirmative Employment Plan to increase female representation in the NG.
