MEMORANDUM FOR:  Tactical Information Operations Course Attendees

Subject:  Online Welcome Packet

1. Thank you for visiting Tactical Information Operations course information page. This is a brief overview of course welcome information. Once you have a confirmed reservation in ATRRS you will be sent a detailed welcome packet specific to your course location. Not all courses are conducted in Vermont. Please call the IO Battalion Course Administrator to verify your class location prior to requesting orders. As a reminder, our expectation is that students will have completed IO 101 prior to arrival at the Tactical Information Operations Course.

2. The following administrative instructions pertain all classes:

    a. Travel & Report Date/Time: The first day of the course dates is for travel for those who need to travel. Directions and maps will be included when you receive your full welcome packet. At in-processing you are required to provide the following documents. Please have copies already in your possession to give to the instructors.
        (1) Copy of DA Form 1059 or DA 87 for Information Operations 101 (IO 101)
        (2) ATRRS Post Reservation Checklist or original Signed Commander's Pre-execution Checklist,
IAW Appendix H, TRADOC Reg. 350-18.
        (3) Orders
        (4) Travel Itinerary
        (5) Completed Student Information Sheet
After in-processing the instruction will begin at 0800.

Please bring all documents in electronic format on disk in a web based email or on a thumb drive. Processing is done electronically and all documents need to be collected digitally. No access to DTS is available so please bring your travel documents saved on portable media.

    b. Departure Date/Time: Students will be dismissed at 1300 hrs on the last day of the course dates, no exceptions. If flying, travel departure time must be after 1500 hrs.

    c. Duty uniform for the class: ACU.

    d. The typical class schedule is 0800 to 1700. However many group projects are completed outside of these hours; be prepared for some longer workdays. You must attend the entire class and successfully complete tests and group projects to receive credit for this course.

    e. All contraband items are prohibited: No weapons, ammunition, explosives of any type, or knives with blades in excess of four (4) inches are permitted on the armory property.

3. Individuals are required to make their own food, lodging and transportation arrangements.  Rations and transportation are not available.

Limited billeting is available. Please contact the course administrator for additional details.

If billets are not available, or students desire not to use them, a partial list of local options for lodging can be found here.   Please check with individual establishments for current rates and availability.  You can also contact the course administrator for additional options.

Current Per Diem rates for Washington County, Vermont can be found at the GSA website.

The closest airport is Burlington, Vermont (BTV), and the nearest alternate is Lebanon, New Hampshire (LEB).

Each airport is approximately 50 miles from the duty location. Since there is no lodging or transportation provided, a POV or rental car is a necessity.

The IO Battalion does not provide statements of non-availability.  For students staying off site, orders should state that quarters are not available or that staying off site is authorized, depending on the circumstances.
